Dr. Chen starts the season with the inauguration concert of her own treasuered project “Standing on Giant”s Shoulder” (SGS) a project dedicate to creat new meaning to the classical master work, and commissioned new composition inspired by it. In Chapter 1 of SGS, Dr. Chen devotes her mind to HammerKlavier, Beethoven, Monumental piano sonata, Op.106. She has invited a dear friend, Dr. Daniel Pesca, Composition Professor at the Eastman School of Music to write a piece as a new piece to pair with HammerKlavier. Dr. Chen recently was granted CIRCA Professional Development grant from University of Maryland Baltimore County for her trip to Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Germany and Frederick Collection in Massachusetts, where she researches for “performance practice of Beethoven Piano Sonata Op.106 on historical instrument VS. modern grand piano”.


Dr. Chen will introduce her findings in the debut performance at the Emmanuel Episcapal church in Baltimore. Several ensemble performances in the season of 2024-2025 includes, “Music in the Valley” at St. John’s, Western Run, MD with YaoGuang Zhai, Principal Clarinet at Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Bo Li, cellist from Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. “The Composers of Color Collective Symposium” at Morgan State University, with violinist Claudia Chudacoff, concert master of both the National Gallery Orchestra and the Alexandria Symphony Orcehstra. Debut with flutiest Giorgio Consolati in “Ringwood Friends of Music” a prestigious concert series in New Jersey. “Pianorama” a celebration of piano ensemble pieces, traditionally performed by piano faculty and students of University of Maryland Baltimore County, where the program includes Stravinsky Rite of Spring, Ravel La Valse and Debussy Trois Nocturnes. Recent recording project includes Album record for Dr. Erik Franklin with Soprano Clair Galloway in New York CIty and Recording session for SGS in the summer of 2025.  



Pianist Hui-Chuan Chen has performed widely throughout the United States and has appeared in major performance venues, including Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall), The Kennedy Center Concert Hall, and The Supreme Court of the United States of America. She has featured at French Embassy Concert Series, concert at the Residence of the French Embassador, The National Gallery of Art, The Phillips Collection, and Sixth and I Historic Synagogue, (IN Series) in Washinton D.C., and the Barge Music Festival in New York City.  A highly sought after collaborator, Dr. Chen has served as staff pianist at Marina Piccinini International Master Class (MPIMC) for several years indifferent country, in Switzerland, Malboro, VT, Miami, FL. She also works at Aspen Music Festival and School, CO, Heifetz International Music Institute, VA, Washington Internaitonal Competition, Washington D.C., and Wideman Piano Competition, LA 


Ann Street Trio was founded between Dr. Chen and Dr. Erik Franklin, Clarinet and Katlyn DeGraw, cellist. It is a group devoted to bring music to the community. Founded before pandemic, it was a friendly having fun experience at first and it grows to be a regular combination that loved by many. The group has regular performances within east coast. Recent performnace includes, Great Lakes Arts Festival, (GLAF), and Spire Series.  Dr. Chen’s new passion on is the role of Orchestra pianist. Inspired by her experience at Peabody Camerata, a new music group at Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, led by the late Gene Young, Dr. Chen is enchanted by the joy and possibility of collaborating with all her friends and colleagues on stage and start pursue a new path in her career. Shs has been the regular principal pianist at Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra for the past 3 seasons. Placed as one of the semi finalist for Cleveland Symphony Orchestra Principal PIanist Audition (No one advanced to final round), She also joined Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for their Gala Performance, Donor’s appreciation concert and their regular orchestra performances. Dr. Chen recently performed with RIchmond Symphony Orchestra and Delaware Symphony Orchestra.



Since completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at The Peabody Institute, Hui-Chuan is devoted to teaching and academia.   She previously served as faculty for the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Washington Conservatory of Music,and the Heifetz International Music Institute. She currently holds faculty and collaborative positions with the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
